The Why, What and How to Cleanse Your Body

clean healthy detox Nov 01, 2020

Our bodies are truly amazing. It deals with waves of harmful toxins from within and without, and yet—it still keeps ticking. Our bodies are not invincible though. Caring for our body is needed. You have the choice to rid away the toxins you consume, with a whole foods approach to a cleanse. Whole food cleanses can be a powerful way to detox your body, lose weight, and boost your metabolism naturally.

Typical cleanses drastically reduce calories and can leave you hungry and nutritionally lacking. They can also lower your blood sugar and make you feel dizzy, tired, and irritated. An all-liquid diet; green smoothies only; or fasting cleanse can leave you without enough protein or fat. They may also lack vitamins and minerals like these. Even if they do cleanse your body, it’s not easy to stick to these type of cleanses for more than 24 hours. Imagine how easy it would be to not have to think about eating for a whole day; however, imagine how mentally challenging a cleanse like this would be while you work, take care of your family, or juggle a busy schedule.

Why Cleanse?

As previously stated, our body is constantly working to dispel toxins from foods we ingest to the environment we live in. Over time, our body runs down from unhealthy food choices, alcohol, caffeine, drugs, stress and environmental toxins. Taking time to cleanse the body and nurture these vital organs go a long way in prevention, and have some remarkable immediate effects—increased energy, clear skin, improved digestion, mental clarity and so much more.

According to WebMD.com, signs our body tells us, “it’s time for a detox, or cleanse”:
  1. Feeling fatigued, stressed and overwhelmed
  2. Frequent headaches, and/or lack of mental clarity
  3. Skin breakouts, and dull complexion
  4. Irregular digestion (IBS, constipation, bloat, gas)
  5. Over consumption of the following: alcohol, caffeine, drugs (prescription or otherwise)
  6. Often feel emotionally unstable, depressed, unmotivated and lacking energy and enthusiasm for life

Our bodies are innately intelligent. A period of cleansing is the perfect way to hit the reset button and start on a path to a healthier, happier, and vibrant you!

What Is A Cleanse?

Detoxification or cleanse diets are short-term interventions designed to eliminate toxins from the body, promote health, and assist with weight loss. Ideal time frame for a cleanse ranges between 3-21 days. As a Certified Nutrition Specialist, finding other individuals to take on a cleanse challenge will help increase your motivation and provide support with one another.

If you are ready to hit the reset and jumpstart your metabolism, let's get you on your 7 Day Jumpstart Cleanse right now.

Before you get started, think of a few friends, loved ones, or co-workers you think would be interested to join you!

How-To Get Started:

Understand your body. Our bodies talk to us every second of everyday. The question comes to do we stay in-tuned with our body daily? Are we actually listening to what our bodies are trying to tell us? So, the first step to your cleanse: understand what your body is telling you. Our bodies are truly a remarkable system. Once we start listening to what the body exactly needs, the next steps are easy.

Questions to ask yourself throughout the day:
  1. How am I feeling today?
  2. Rate your energy level from 1-10 (1= exhausted; 10= thriving)
  3. How did this food/drink make me feel after I consumed it?
  4. What do I need to do in order to increase my energy (think mental, physical, or spiritual activities)
  5. Who do I need to speak with in order to de-stress, or turn my day around if I am feeling sluggish?

The 7 Day Jumpstart Cleanse was designed to flush out the toxins our body has produced over the years to:

  • Increase Energy
  • Rev Up Your Metabolism
  • Burn Fat
  • Regulate the Release of Healthy Hormones.

Four areas The 7 Day Jumpstart Cleanse will focus on:

  1. Hydration
  2. Exercise
  3. Whole Foods
  4. Sleep

Hydration:

Everyone knows we must stay hydrated (especially with these summer months coming!), yet do you follow through?

Among hydrations many functions, water is responsible for carrying nutrients and oxygen to cells (our blood is 95% water), regulating body temperature, lubricating joints and cleansing toxins and waste from our bodies. The human brain alone is composed of 75% water, while our skin is 70% water. CRAZY right? This is why one of the first effects to dehydration is headaches and dry skin. Aim to consume 1-3 liters of water per day. Add some lemon (or citrus fruit) for natural flavor.

Exercise:

Performing regular exercise (roughly 20-minute sessions three times a week) can be one of the best things to do to help prevent illness, maintain healthy body weight, preserve health, increase longevity, and enhance quality of life. In addition to the positive effects exercise has on the body, exercise improves mood and energy levels, along with an increase in the bodies level of endorphins—chemicals in the brain that reduce pain and induce a sense of well-being.

Take action and utilize this Busy Bee Training Program to jumpstart your health and fitness goals throughout your cleanse.

Whole Foods First Approach:

Incorporating fresh fruits, vegetables, complex carbohydrates, lean protein, and healthy fats deactivates the build-up of toxins we have accumulated over time and removes them from our bodies. Throughout the 7 Day Jumpstart Cleanse, your primary consumption includes wholesome food choices, with the elimination of: artificial sweeteners, refined carbohydrates, dairy, fried foods, and saturated fats. Post cleanse, you can introduce some of these foods back into your diet; however, you may notice a tremendous difference with how your body functions when you do not consume these food choices (hello energy!)

To wrap up, cleanses are designed to purify the body, and rid it of harmful chemicals and toxins. The purpose of a cleanse is to help you maintain a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. As previously stated, cleanses typically range from 3-21 days. Some people do cleanses because they have physical symptoms they want to eliminate (headaches, fatigue, low energy-all which may be the result of toxins in your body.) As others look for a cleanse to kick-start themselves into healthy eating. When you have your “why” behind choosing to cleanse, you can determine what length of time is best for you. You can test run this whole food cleanse for 1-3 days or take on the challenge and complete for 7-days.

Let’s get started!
